SEDBA’s September 2026 General Meeting is on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Geezers located at 12120 Telegraph Rd, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670, for one (1) General MCLE credit.

This meeting’s tentative topic is “Examining the Expert: Strategies for Deposition and Cross-Examination”. It is being presented by Attorneys Benjamin T. Ikuta and Michelle Buxton Hemesath of Ikuta Hemesath LLP.

About our speakers:

Benjamin T. Ikuta has been a licensed trial attorney in California since 2008, specializing in medical malpractice, elder abuse, and personal injury cases. With extensive experience on both the plaintiff and defense sides, he has a unique perspective on tactics and strategies of insurance companies and corporations. He has secured over $45,000,000 on behalf of clients since 2016 and has litigated many birth injury and cancer cases. Ben co-founded the Medical Malpractice Trial Attorneys of California and was appointed to OCTLA’s Board of Directors.

Michelle Buxton Hemesath is a California-based attorney who specializes in representing injured victims and their families. She gained extensive experience representing healthcare providers and dealing with insurance companies in the early stages of her career. Michelle is highly committed to every case she takes on and approaches each one as if it’s going to trial. She graduated in the top 20% of her class from the University of San Diego School of Law and received awards in Complex Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Michelle is licensed to practice in California and is a member of various legal associations, including the Women Lawyers of Long Beach (WLLB), where she served as the immediate past President and is currently the Treasurer. She is also a member of the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA), the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA), the Orange County Asian American Bar Association (OCAABA), and the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA).
