The Southeast District Bar Association serves the Southeast Los Angeles County Area including the main Courthouse in Norwalk, and the area Courthouses in Downey, Bellflower, and Whittier.
\nWe serve the Cities of Norwalk, Downey, Whittier, Pico Rivera, La Mirada, Bellflower, South Gate, Huntington Park, Bell, Bell Gardens, Cudahy, Commerce, Vernon, La Habra, Lakewood, Hacienda Heights, Industry, and La Puente. However, we accept members from all over Southern California.<\/p>\n
The Southeast District Bar Association was first recognized by the State Bar of California on June 16, 1934 and incorporated on September 12, 1956 as a non-profit mutual benefit corporation.\u00a0 The Association has a Board of Trustees consisting of four officers, the immediate past president, and eight to twelve trustees.\u00a0 The officers and trustees are elected by the active attorney and judicial members and hold office for one year.<\/p>\n
The Southeast District Bar Association has a strong tradition of camaraderie between the bar and the bench. It hosts several activities throughout the year in addition to its General Meetings.\u00a0 Membership in the Southeast Bar consists of active, retired, and honorary members, together with members of the local judiciary.\u00a0 Every lawyer who is an active member of the California State Bar in good standing is eligible to be an active member in the Southeast District Bar Association.\u00a0 Court staff and providers of legal support services are eligible to be non-voting members.\u00a0 The Association is also supported by a wide array of sponsors who serve the legal community.<\/p>\n
General Meetings are usually held on the fourth Wednesday of most months.\u00a0 Each meeting begins with a social hour at 5:00 p.m. that transitions at 6:00 p.m. to a dinner and speaker program.\u00a0 These dinner programs feature notable speakers who cover various topics of current interest to the legal profession.\u00a0 Most General Meetings are eligible for MCLE credit to attendees, including some specialized units.\u00a0 Please see our Events page for a schedule of upcoming General Meetings, MCLE topics, and other events.<\/p>\n
